Sun shades or death traps?

May 23, 2019 | Parent Support

It’s hot. The sun burns. And naturally you want to shade your baby.

NOT WITH A BLANKET. Or even a light cover, a muslin for example.

I understand the thinking, but here’s what you missed. Oxygen. The sun is kept out, so is airflow. Your baby needs oxygen. They breathe out CO2, and while they may be our little flowers, they can’t survive breathing it back in without enough oxygen too.

Not only that, but temperatures increase dramatically. They get too hot, too quickly. And to top it off – YOU CAN’T SEE THEM!

Sun canopies, umbrellas or…because I am bias – slings! All better options that allow you to monitor your child.
